Stephen first acted while at Harvard University, then studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Theatre credits include Troilus and Cressida, King Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, Doctor Faustus and The Revenger's Tragedy (Royal Shakespeare Company), the gentleman caller in The Glass Menagerie (Sheringham and Vienna's English Theatre), Norman in The Dresser (Upper Montclair, NJ), George in Chapter Two (Upper Montclair and US tour), and Van Helsing in Dracula (Cooperstown, NY).
Film credits include The Bedford Incident, starring Richard Widmark and Sidney Poitier, The Horror of Frankenstein with Ralph Bates, The Final Conflict with Sam Neill, Zelig (Woody Allen) and A Wedding Most Strange (Toronto Film Festival). Television includes Laurie in Little Women, David Griggs in Oppenheimer, Stephan in Broome Stages (BBC) and episodes of Crossroads. After a break from professional acting while his children were growing up and a course at The Actors Company, recent work includes Professor Aspinall in Insufficiency (Riverside Studios), Lord Loam in The Admirable Crichton (Barons Court Theatre), Walsh in Rose's Dilemma and Reggie in Quartet (English Theatre of Hamburg), Mr Gripe in Pollyanna (Edinburgh Festival), Norman in On Golden Pond (understudy, UK tour), RF Simpson in Singin' in the Rain (Studio Theatre, Catford) and Mr Everlon in Legacy Falls (Charing Cross Theatre). He has appeared in music videos for Gallows, Tinie Tempah and Alex Metric, and promotions for the BBC. |
